Leo Demidov (Tom Hardy) is a security officer in the Soviet Union during Stalin's reign when he uncovers a series of child murders. His Communist bosses refuse to believe that a killer is out there ("Murder is strictly a capitalist disease," one of them tells him), but Leo continues investigating, before he is demoted and exiled to a remote outpost. There, he teams up with General Mikhail Nesterov (Gary Oldman) in order to track down the elusive serial killer. Based on Tom Rob Smith's bestselling novel, Child 44 reunites the versatile Hardy with two former co-stars, Noomi Rapace (The Drop) and Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy).
