This walk has a mixture of terrain – woodland, modest hills and along the side of the river Dane. When three of us did this walk once, we were surprised by a family of pigs in one section of the woods! They just came snuffling and grunting out of the undergrowth to see who we were. There will be cake, and afterwards we shall have a well earned roast in The Ship Inn at Wincle.
Total length of the walk is about 8 miles (it seems that this is a very popular distance). We're starting at the slightly earlier time of 9:30 because the drive will take us longer. We'll share cars, so please bring trainers to change into for the pub and journey home.
It's cold and wet at this time of year, and can be very muddy. Proper boots are strongly suggested, and please don't wear jeans. If it rains you'll be very uncomfortable and cold.
Kit list: hat, gloves, warm clothes, waterproof jacket and trousers, walking trousers walking boots as may be slippy tea flask.
