Summer Peak District Walk with Lunch

What better way to get to know some new people than to take a leisurely walk in one of England's most popular districts. No distractions! Just fantastic scenery and some great company. Our Sunday walks in the Peak district continue with this classic walk through Ilam and Dove Dale. Dove Dale is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Peak district, if not the country. This walk will take us first through the idyllic village of Ilam, with its alpine style cottages. From here we walk along the banks of the river Manifold and then up to the hamlet of Stanshope We will continue on to Milldale, which is perched on the banks of the river Dove. The path then follows the river through Dovedale for over 2.5 miles. On the way we pass the sights of Ravens Tor, Dove Holes (an excellent sopt for a bit of lunch), the twin pinnacles of Ilam Rock, Lovers Leap and the crag of Dovedale Castle before we reach the stepping stones. Then is it back to the cars and a well earned pint in a local Pub. Walk Information Distance: 8 miles approx Time: 4.5 hours Terrain: along bridleways & footpaths – some parts may be muddy. Recommended footwear: Walking shoes Recommended clothing: Light trousers (not Jeans). Waterproofs may be needed depending on the weather. Please also bring along a packed lunch. No transport is needed as car sharing is available.
