Walk with and meet some new friends as we go on our final Peak district walk of the year where we shall be visiting the beautiful countryside around Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. The walk itself will take us along the Derwent valley to the village of Rowsley where we will stop at a local pub for lunch. The walk then takes us back up the valley to Chatsworth house where we will have the chance to wonder the extensive gardens taking in some of the impressive water features and sculptures that dot the grounds. There will also be a Sculpture exhibition running in the Grounds - Beyond Limits, an installation of Modern and Contemporary sculpture set against the stunning backdrop of Chatsworth. One of the star attractions of this autumn's show will be a life-size maquette for the world renowned Angel of the North by Antony Gormley, the hugely recognisable landmark in Gateshead in the North of England, which continues to receive so much acclaim and attention. A broad range of work by other leading international sculptors will also feature. After we have explored the gardens it is a short walk back to the car. Walk Information Distance: 7 miles approx Time: 3 1/2 hours + time in the Gardens Terrain: along bridleways & footpaths. Some parts may be muddy. Recommended footwear: Sturdy shoes/Walking shoes Recommended clothing: Light trousers (not Jeans). Waterproofs may be needed depending on the weather. Bring a camera for the sculptures! Entrance to the gardens and any food or drink (including the pub lunch) are payable by you.
