So what's Ice Climbing?
Ice climbing is an offshoot of mountain climbing. Climbing ice started in the early days of mountain climbing as climbers encountered the hard water ice in the gullies and faces of their lofty objectives. With this experience you will be given an introduction to a very cool sport! The UK’s most challenging ice walls offer 8 metres of real indoor ice climbing - inside at a constant temperature of -12°C a concave, real ice climbing wall presents a steep challenge for all aspiring adventurers!
What’s provided?
If you borrow our equipment you will be provided with The North Face clothing, axes, crampons, harnesses, helmets, and gloves. You may wish to bring a change of T-shirt and socks to change into afterwards.
You may bring your own equipment if you wish. Crampons must be suitable for climbing and not walking. Boots must be B3 mountaineering boots. Both axes and crampons should be suitably sharp and may be refused if not. Clothing should be suitable for ice climbing in temperatures of –10°C.
Session lasts for 1hr and starts at 3:30pm. We will need to get there 15 minutes early to allow time for kitting up.
Please bring socks, long sleeved t-shirt and preferably, ski gloves.
Cost includes your ice climb, instruction and all Social Circle fees.
Steve your host will TEXT you on the day telling you where he is and what he's wearing in Slug & Lettuce so you'll have his number just in case you're running late or want him to meet you outside first.
