We have altered the route to work around the recent floods.
Need to recover from some Saturday night shenanigans? Join us on a relaxing Sunday walk!
Social Circle brings together people just like you looking to meet others in Manchester to share fun activities and experiences. Your friendly host will personally welcome you to ease any nerves and text you on the day. Don't worry if you're coming on your own - so is everyone else!
Walking is simple, free and one of the easiest ways to get more active, become healthier and beat stress. But it can be boring walking the same routes on your own.
Calling all walkers: How would you like to explore some of the best walking routes in the Manchester area and meet new people at the same time?
If you live and work in Manchester, then you may have heard that breathtaking countryside and beauty spots can be found within easy reach of the city centre. Come walking with Social Circle to explore some of the best walking routes in the area , and meet some new people along the way.
The Route: A 7.5 mile walk from Marple Bridge including an archaeological dig.
Today's walk includes an archaeological dig of Oldknows Mill at Mellor, a wheel pit, a Roman Lake & Roman bridge (that aren't Roman), a canal & locks, lime kilns, an aqueduct and a tunnel (that isn't a tunnel), returning via Etherow County Park and Brabyns Park. Two optional coffee/ice-cream/toilet stops along the route, and one big hill (sorry). Possible escape route 1/2 way round if anyone needs it.
After the walk we will head to The Midland (pub & dining) nearby for a well-deserved Sunday lunch. View their menu HERE
What our members say:
"Thanks for a wonderful walk around Dunham Massey. It was a beautiful sunny day. Ee took our time and we met and fed the deer. Perfect!" Nic
"I decided it was time to start getting active again. The easy pace and distances coupled with the promise of sunday lunch had me sign up for Social Circle straight away. As a bonus, I got a 10 day pass to my local gym too." Dave
