This is undoubtedly the classic walk in the Yorkshire Dales, taking in the summits of Pen Y Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m).

Please take note – this walk is challenging and is not for the faint hearted!

Starting at Horton in Ribblesdale, the walk takes us on a superb circular of the hills, firstly with a trek to Pen y Ghent via Brackenbottom, through fields until we reach and scale the imposing face of the hill to the plateau on top.

Heading down from Pen Y Ghent on the due west path, we shall visit the brilliant Hull Pot (map ref SD824747).

From here, we will head on to Cave Hill and the lovely Ling Gill (SD802786). Once we have negotiated this tricky section and taken a break to take in the beauty of Ling Gill, we will move on to Cam End. From here, we will follow a track and the B6255 to Ribblehead Viaduct and prepare ourselves for the long haul up Whernside.

Leaving Whernside down a steep path to Philpin Farm which has a welcome refreshment caravan at an appropriate quick break spot we will be ready for the final summit up Ingleborough. The walk concludes with a six mile walk back to Horton.
