This is a perfect opportunity to have a totally chilled out Sunday enjoying the open stretch of the canal ahead of you. Choose what you'd like to do - stop for a leisurely drink at one of the many canalside pubs, or chill out on deck watching the swans swin by or wave at the dog walkers on the towpath.
The base at Acton Bridge near Northwich is a good starting point for a number of scenic routes with continually changing scenery. A visit to the historic and unique Anderton Boat Lift is a must for any canal enthusiast.
Travelling North you meet the canal where it all started, the Bridgewater canal which is a wide lock free canal that winds its way through picturesque Lymn towards bustling Manchester.
The recommended short trip South towards Middlewich takes in the historic salt mines of Northwich and the beautiful Cheshire Weaver Valley countryside.
