Hallé Orchestra play at Heaton Park

It’s a once in a 50 year opportunity to see the Hallé Orchestra play at Heaton Park. Clear the throat, finely tune the vocal chords, pop the cork, hum along and mellow to the sounds of the Hallé Orchestra at Heaton Park on Sunday 2 September 4 – 8pm It’s the first time in 50 years that the Hallé Orchestra has played outdoors at Heaton Park and it’s a real treat for classical music lovers partial to a picnic in the park. A Classical Afternoon in the Park is an outdoor event in Manchester that the Halle will be performing at during their 150th Anniversary celebrations. The orchestra will be conducted by John Wilson, who has conducted across the globe, and is a regular guest conductor with the Hallé. The programme will consist of some of the world's best loved classical music including Grieg's 'Morning and In The Hall Of The Mountain King', Khachaturian's 'Spartacus' (made famous as the theme to The Onedin Line), excerpts from Mussorgsky's 'Pictures At An Exhibition', Tchaikovsky's 'Sleeping Beauty Waltz', Sibelius's 'Finlandia', and excerpts from Bizet's 'Carmen'. The evening will be given a rousing finale, with Tchaikovsky's stunning '1812 Overture', complete with canon and mortar effects. Cost: £5 (transaction fee to cover admin and postage).
