ORANGE WEDNESDAY 2 4 1

If you love the excitement of the big screen, enjoy the latest blockbuster releases or maybe mind expanding foreign films that puzzle and amaze, then the Social Circle Wednesday Film Night is for you!

Fair Game

Director: Doug Liman

Starring: Naomi Watts, Sean Penn, Ty Burrell, Sam Shepard

A taut political drama based on the real-life experiences of Valerie Plame, covert CIA operative whose status was revealed by a White House leak.

Naomi Watts plays Plame, a CIA agent leading an investigation into weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. When her husband, US diplomat Joseph Wilson (Sean Penn), is asked to look into the possible sale of uranium from Niger to Iraq, his findings displease the White House administration, which ignores his findings. When Wilson writes about the issue in the New York Times, retribution is swift - and Valerie Plame suddenly finds her identity revealed to world.

With fantastic performances from Watts and Penn, this is a fascinating glimpse into the lives and practices of the people who run our governments, a harrowing account of a marriage under sustained outside pressure, and an intelligent examination of the motives behind the Iraq War.

Screenplay: Jez Butterworth, John Butterworth

You should see it because: It's an engrossing look at many of the most important issues facing us today, directed by Doug Liman of The Bourne Identity.

See it if you liked: The Bourne Identity (2002), A Mighty Heart (2007), Green Zone (2010)
