Peak District Walk - The Roaches

This is a circular walk in one of the most beautiful corners of Peak District, with woods, moorland, rocks and stunning views. We'll start in a tiny hamlet of Gradbach, a former silk mill village centred around a fine stone-built mill which was constructed in 1785 for the spinning of silk (now a Youth Hostel). From there we will follow a path through woods to the spectacular chasm called Lud's Church where legend has it Robin hood, Friar Tuck and even Bonnie Prince Charlie have been at some point hiding from the authorities and then through the moor onto the open ridge where you can admire some spectacular weather eroded boulders so typical for the Dark Peak area. We'll finish the loop back in Gradbach then drive through Flash (the highest village in England!) for Sunday roast at Cat and Fiddle on the way to Macclesfield before heading home.
Kit list: walking boots, hat, fleece, waterproof jacket, walking trousers (not jeans!), packed lunch, tea flask, water
