Canoeing and Beach Barbecue Camp

Paddling down the scenic Dwryd Estuary towards Pothmadog; past Portmerion and with views of Snowdon in the distance must be one of the best ways to spend a day in North Wales. Combining this with a beach barbecue and a night under the stars on a beautiful isolated sandy beach with steep cliffs behind just makes it better. Previous paddling experience is not necessary for this trip as we will be paddling in rafted Open Canoes (also called Canadian canoes). By rafting the boats together, this makes them far more stable and capsize is almost impossible (although you can still submerge them if youre really determined). All specialist equipment and food for the barbeque is provided, youll need to provide your own sleeping bags and mats (although these can be hired if needed), tarpaulins for improvised shelters will be on hand if the weather is less than kind to us. Dry bags are provided to enable you to get your kit to the beach without getting it wet. Youll need to bring your own tasty beverages to imbibe as we barbecue and watch the sunset. An early start on Sunday morning sees us making the most of the tidal assistance to push the boats back upstream and minimize the effort we need to put into paddling, before we head off to the cafe for a nice fry-up (not included) and have you on your way home by lunchtime.
