White water kayaking, looks really hard, but as long as you can paddle forwards and steer it's a doddle.
Heres your chance to learn how, we've got some experienced coaches lined up to deliver two days of training to bring you from zero to hero.
Well spend day one on the broad flat slow-moving section of the River Dee in Chester. Here, well teach you all of the skills necessary to manoeuvre your boat, to try and keep it the right way up when it starts to tip and how to exit the boat if at all goes wrong. By the end of the day you should have developed all of the basic boat handling skills that youll need to progress to moving water
Day 2 starts at the same location, we begin by paddling about a mile down the slower moving section of the river, to give you a chance to put the skills that you learnt yesterday into practice. After 45 minutes or so well reach Chester Weir, the popular put in for those nutters in their kayaks, and your one of them now.
Well run the weir, stop for a brief lunch break and then well start coaching you on how to read the water, avoid the rocks and even play on the waves (if you dare!)
We provide modern comfortable kayaks with adjustable footrests and all safety equipment and wetsuits. You will need swimming costume, towel, footwear should not be heavy or bulky, old plimsolls or wetsuit boots are best. Sunglasses are a good idea (on safety cord).
Bring a full change of clothes for travelling home in!
Meet in Chester at 10:30 and finish around 16:30-17:00
Cost £99 per person for the two days.
