It's the first concert of the new season. They are a fun world music band with a dance/festival feel, but without the rain! They are a bit like Gogol Bordello if you've ever seen them at a festival. See below link for more info and a video. http://www.bridgewater-hall.co.uk/performance/19656.asp
Asian Arts Agency present the seriously hot, New York based bhangra, funk, dhol 'n' brass outfit for their debut UK tour. The nine piece band led by dhol drummer Sunny Jain consists of dhol, drums, percussion, a sousaphone and a five piece horn section. The band fuse the infectious North Indian rhythms of bhangra with funk, jazz, Latin and go-go and their sound is big, brassy and full of energy. This tour is part of the London 2012 Festival, a nationwide celebration bringing together artists from all over the world in celebration of the Games. Dig out your dancing shoes and hot foot it down to one of their performances, you won’t regret it! 'The most exciting local prospect of this short year, a fiery blend of raucous Indian bhangra and funky New Orleans brass...completely riotous' - Village Voice. 'Red Baraat have a studied multi-ethnic cool reminiscent of other New York world fusion acts like Gogol Bordello and Yerba Buena' - Songlines Magazine. 'A Big Band for the World' - Wall Street Journal. Asian Arts Agency is funded by Arts Council England and Bristol City Council.
