A day of culture, history, and marvellous scenery in beautiful Chester. Steeped in history, there will be plenty to provide food for the cultural soul.
Located in the heart of the UK, Chester is the most southerly part of England's Northwest region and is also one of the traditional Marcher counties, bordering North Wales.
One of the most cultural locations in the UK, it has much to offer. We will become acclimatised with this historical city with a trip to the museum and then continue on to a spectacular day full of gorgeous scenery and a unique cultural experience.
Museum
Fascinating displays that build up a picture of Roman Chester. Go back in time to home life from the 17th century to the 1930's. Explore 'hands-on' the geology and natural history of the area. Enjoy the beauty of art, and discover the city's important place in silver history.
With an active programme of special exhibitions and events there's something for everyone at the Grosvenor Museum.
Facilities include the Conservatory shop, and tea and coffee in the Kings Arms Kitchen.
Regimentalia of 4 Regiments: The 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment, Cheshire Yeomanry, 3rd Carabiniers, and 5th Inniskillen Dragoon Guards, all originally raised in Cheshire from 1689. Aspects, too, of Eaton Hall Officer Cadet School from the 1950ies.
City Cruise (optional) £11.50
Enjoy a relaxing 30 minute cruise, journeying up river beneath the suspension bridge, Grosvenor Park and the Earls Eye, following the long sweep of the 'meadows'. Delightful views are seen of beautiful and interesting riverside properties and gardens. Enjoy commentary and a drink from the bar as you cruise along the river.
