SCRAMBLING TASTER DAY

For those who want a little more of an adrenaline rush, Scrambling offers that little bit more from your mountain day. Literally a lot more ‘hands on’ than mountain walking, scrambling allows you to cover steeper, rockier terrain in the safe company of your experienced and qualified guides.

We normally take groups to Tryfan in the Glyders of Snowdonia – a haven for this kind of mountaineering. We guarantee once you have tasted scrambling, you’ll have a hard time being satisfied by anything else!

Required equipment

§  Good walking boots

§  Waterproofs (Jacket essential, Trousers advisable)

§  A small, day rucksack.

§  We will supply group items like maps, first aid kits, emergency shelters etc.

Experience, Fitness and Risk

  • The day is intended for those with some basic experience of walking in the countryside, but not necessarily specific experience of the UK’s higher mountain areas.
  • All days are tailored specifically for each group according to your needs, aspirations, experience and average fitness levels. However, a reasonable level of fitness is required as we will be walking across mountainous terrain.
  • We usually cover between 4 and 8 miles over the course of a day, with plenty of rest stops to learn new skills. The terrain we will be walking across will include uneven ground, rough and mountainous terrain, stiles, stream crossings, fields, moorland, hills and mountains (including summits), tracks and lanes, as well as a number of steep ascents and descents; we may experience adverse weather conditions.
  • The day normally starts at 9.30am and ends around 4pm.
  • Part of the attraction of valley, hill and mountain walking is the challenge of tackling different terrains, landscapes and weather conditions. Every effort is made to minimize potential hazards; however, the very nature of hill and mountain walking involves a certain level of unavoidable risk of accident and/or injury. By taking part in this activity, you are aware of and accept these risks.
  • All Mountain Leaders are experienced and qualified, with appropriate public, civil and professional indemnity insurance. They are also first aid trained.
