Liverpool is more than just a city with a big reputation. It's the centre of a vast area of beauty, culture and entertainment that deserves exploration.
In Liverpool there's no shortage of things to do on a budget, whether it's free entry into some of the country's finest galleries and museums, taking in the world-renowned sights or enjoying a simple but tasty meal in a café, bar or restaurant.
Thanks to the legacy of 800 years of civic pride and massive recent investment, many of the attractions on offer are superb value or even free.
World Museum Liverpool
The years since the war have seen the collections continue to grow and so our building had to grow as well. The expansion work, which doubled the amount of display space and created a beautiful new atrium, has been a resounding success. Since the museum's reopening in April 2005, visitors have been fascinated by beautiful galleries and the latest interactive and technological facilities which have really brought our collections to life for a whole new generation.
Tate Liverpool
Tate Liverpool is the home of the National Collection of Modern Art in the North of England and the largest gallery of modern and contemporary art outside London. Tate Liverpool is housed in a beautiful converted warehouse that is part of the historic Albert Dock.
The art shown is by twentieth century artists and is always interesting and thought provoking. The exhibitions of modern and contemporary art make a unique contribution to the North of England's artistic vitality and complement Merseyside's celebrated historic collections. You can always see famous modern classics alongside the very best in contemporary art.
The Albert Dock
The Albert Dock houses some of the city's trendiest stores together with a number of art shops and gallery outlets such as Tate Gallery gift shop, Apple store and the Beatles Story gift shop.
