Macclesfield Canal Walk between Bollington and Disley.

10 miles return.

The Macclesfield Canal is part of the Cheshire Ring, both a popular boating route and towpath walk. The Ring, 97 miles, covers all of the Macclesfield Canal and parts of the Rochdale, Bridgewater, Peak Forest, Ashton and Trent & Mersey Canals. is rife, and beautifully understated.

The Macclesfield is most renowned for its unique snake bridges, so watch out for them along the way. They swirl with perfectly spiralled brickwork once enabling boat horses to swap sides on the towpath without needing to be uncoupled from their narrowboats.
