Friday 20th November
Depart Manchester and cross The Border to arrive in historic Gretna Green to visit The Old Blacksmiths where runaway marriages have taken place for hundreds of years and enjoy a historically accurate and hilarious wedding ceremony recreated just for us.
Depart Gretna and travel through the magnificent Southern Uplands to the rolling farmland of East Lothian.
Arrive Glenkinchie Whisky Distillery for your included distillery tour which includes 2 x tasting of their celebrated single malt malt first distilled in 1837.Charge your glasses for your first "Slange Var" ("Cheers") in Scots! as we look forward to an exciting weekend in Caledonia. for Edinburgh and our first class hotel in the City. Relax and freshen up in your rooms before Welcome Drink and nibbles then stroll with new found friends to The Ghillie Dhu Ceilidh Club where we enjoy our included Scottish Dinner and Traditional Music. Saturday 21st November
A well deserved lie-in then a full Scottish breakfast before we depart the hotel to head off on our all inclusive sightseeing tour with entrances to the Royal Apartments and ‘Honours of Scotland’: the priceless Crown Jewels of spectacular Edinburgh Castle. Continue the tour with your Official Kilted Edinburgh Guide to enjoy the city's views of The Scottish Parliament, Holyrood House the official residence of the Queen, Arthur's Seat and the elegant Georgian New Town - home of poets, scholars and statesmen of Scotland.
The afternoon is free. Choose to relax in the hotel’s pool, go shopping and explore Edinburgh at your leisure and take in the atmospheric Edinburgh Christmas markets or take an optional tour to Scotland’s magical and mysterious Rosslyn Chapel at the heart of the renowned Dan Brown book ‘The Da Vinci Code.’
This evening we venture forth on an included spine tingling ghost walk in "The worlds' most haunted" - Greyfriar's Chuchyard. Then why not join the group for dinner in one of the Capital’s finest eating establishments (dinner optional).
Sunday 22nd November
After a hearty Scottish breakfast we make a leisurely departure from ‘Auld Reekie’ and set off for an included tour of famous Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott and one of Scotland’s most fascinating places. Created almost 200 years ago on the banks of the River Tweed in the Scottish Borders. Stop off at Melrose for a brief wander around before heading home across the Border.
Travel: Executive travel in luxury coach, leaving Manchester at 08.00 on Friday 20th November and arriving back into Manchester approx. 17.00 on Sunday 22nd November.
