A Perfect Summer Sightseeing/Walking Weekend in Sunny Snowdonia.
There's no double about it, Snowdonia is the UK's perfect Summer setting. Whether you fancy the challenge of climbing one of the tallest mountains in the UK or would simply prefer a leisurely stroll with ice-cream in hand and sun cream on face, we have just the weekend for you...
How about guided walks in the mountains and hills of the Snowdonia National Park? At the heart of the weekend lies the highest point in England and Wales; Snowdon. This stunning mountain is the destination for visitors and walkers alike and we can't wait to introduce you to its many, scenic routes.
Fancy more of a relaxing weekend? There are other stunning sights to be seen at the lower levels and to take advantage of everything Snowdonia has to offer, we will include a mix of low-level and high-level walks. We aim to see that all abilities in the group are catered for, yet at the same time adhere to the prevailing weather, ensuring your safety at all times.
We will be staying at the stunning Capel Curig but will also be branching out to surrounding areas, such as Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to Snowdonia and its neighbouring towns and villages. This magical setting has a distinctly Alpine feel enhanced by the dense Gwydyr Forest surrounding Betws-y-Coed.
Overview:
Never been on a Social Circle Weekend then why not? They are fun and a great way of meeting new people. 3 days, 2 nights Walking/Sightseeing Weekend 22nd - 23rd July with self contained en-suite accommodation. Breakfasts and packed lunches provided as well as the we frilly bits that go into making a real fun social weekend. View accommodation here.
Itinerary:
Friday
Friday evening welcome get together which will give everyone a chance to get to know each other over dinner at around 8pm at the local pub and a chance to sample the local ale on offer.
Saturday
We will leave our cars and set off from our accommodation on a lovely 9 mile walk, allowing us to see the beauty that lies right on our doorstep.
For those who just fancy seeing Betws-y-Coed at their own leisure instead of taking part in the walk this stunning location gives visitors a chance to take life at their own pace.
Swallow Falls
This waterfall on the Afon Llugwy has become a familiar natural celebrity over the past 100 years and has featured on film, postcard and canvas. While its principal viewpoints are situated on the south bank of the Llugwy with the convenience of an ample parking along the A5 and within the hotel car park, it is observed far more dramatically if approached on foot along the northern bank.
Bodnant Gardens
Bodnant Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens in the UK, covering some 80 acres and situated about the River Conwy on ground sloping towards the west and looking across the valley towards the Snowdonia range.
The Garden has two parts. The upper area, around the Hall, consists of formal lawns and herbaceous borders, magnificent Italiante Terraces featuring buttressed walls and brick paths, curved steps and pergolas, the Pin Mill and Lily ponds
Conwy Castle
Conwy castle is a gritty, dark stoned fortress which has the rare ability to evoke an authentic medieval atmosphere. The first time that visitors catch sight of the castle, commanding a rock about the Conwy Estuary and demanding as much attention as the dramatic Snowdonia skyline behind it, they know they are in the presence of a historic site which still casts a powerful spell.
To finish off Saturdays day activities in the evening we will be eating at a lovely local restaurant, where we are guaranteed a quality meal and gives us chance to catch up on the days events over a chilled glass of wine or local ale.
Sunday
After a lazy start reading the papers and having had breakfast we will set off a few miles up the road to the Valley for a five mile circular walk around lake Idwal. Here, we will take in the spectacular sights of the Glyderau and Carneddau mountain ranges.
Accommodation:
Nestled amongst spectacular scenery, between a river and a network of mountain footpaths, the lodge is uniquely positioned for outdoor enthusiasts. It has a patio area with fantastic views overlooking a mountain river and waterfall, a large drying room and a welcoming living room with fantastic waterfall views and real fire, perfect for cosying up in after our walk! The Mountain Lodge is comfortable for group accommodation with ensuite shower and toilet in each bedroom, view here.
Book a place and recharge your batteries during a relaxing and revitalising short break. This weekend will improve your health and well-being. By becoming more active you will have a great sense of achievement, more energy, sleep better and reduce your stress levels.
Weekends away are great social occasions and are always more fun as part of a group. It's a great way to meet new people so don't worry if you are coming on your own. We will be car sharing up and down so lifts won't be a problem if needed.
" I joined Social Circle as all my friends had settled down and I was looking to increase my circle of girlfriends. I also felt stuck in a rut and wanted to try new things and enchance my social life. Social Circle has had a positive effect on my life as I have met a group of like minded people and I always look forward to weekends. My social life is always filled with new and exciting acitivities. This is all down to joining Social Circle." Helen, Sale
