We've had a summer of bees, now Manchester is getting a sculpture trail of snowmen this Christmas. The festive event is being planned to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Raymond Briggs’ heart-warming picture book The Snowman.
Walking with The Snowman will feature 12 giant Snowman sculptures themed around the song The Twelve Days of Christmas. And each sculpture will be designed and decorated by one of 12 talented artists, all of whom painted a Bee for the Bee in the City trail , which captured the hearts of Manchester’s residents and visitors this summer.
Presented by Wild in Art, organisers of the Bee trail, it's a collaboration with Penguin Ventures, part of publisher Penguin Random House UK, and Peel and the Lowry Outlet have been confirmed as presenting partners. The 165cm high sculptures will be placed around MediaCity, in locations yet to be revealed.
