A lovely gentle walk in the east Peak District around Longshaw Estate and Padley Gorge.
The walk takes in a combination of open parkland and moorland, dense woodland and a beautiful steep sided gorge.
The Longshaw Estate and Country Park comprises around 1600 acres of woodland, grassland, farmland and moorland owned and maintained by the National Trust. There are great walking opportunities with dramatic panoramas and Padley Gorge is home to many ancient oaks.
After meeting up in the morning we will drive to the start of the walk at Grindleford (Car shares will be available)
The walk itself will start from Grindleford train station, and will follow Padley Gorge up to the estate itself. Once we reach the estate we will stop off at the Fox House pub for lunch and a drink. The Fox House dates back to 1733 and is one of the highest pubs in the area at 1132 foot above sea level.
After lunch we will continue the walk through the estate and back down to the station to pick up the cars and drive back to Manchester.
