Join us for a luxurious decadent afternoon tea at Great John Street Hotel in Manchester. Only a stone's throw from Manchester's most exclusive shopping areas, restaurants and theatres, this original Victorian school house has been transformed into a luxury townhouse hotel with unique, individually designed bedrooms and suites alongside stylish lounges, such as the ground floor Oyster Bar and the south facing Rooftop Lounge and Playground.
The ritual of afternoon tea owes its origins to Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford. Living during a time when it was common to eat only two main meals a day; an early breakfast and a late dinner. Anna decided to schedule time to drink tea and snack each afternoon.
Before long all of fashionable society was sipping tea and nibbling sandwiches in the middle of the afternoon.
