Heaton Park is a huge family park owned by Manchester City Council, 4 miles north of the city centre where there is so much to see and do. Sagnio bring some sandwiches and let's eat and explore the magnificent Heaton Park.
The Animal Centre is open all year and our 3 resident Alpacas, the Hebridean Sheep, and Kune Kune pigs are thriving along with all the other animals.
Meet the animals:
JADE THORNTON - A Guernsey Heifer
HEATHER - A Beef Shorthorn Cow
PICACHU, MANICHU & ICEMAN - Our 3 Alpacas
BORIS & HORACE - Kune Kune Pigs
KATRINA - Our Saanen Goat
CAMILLA & CHARLES (and their ducklings) - Call Ducks
GORDON - Chinese Gander Goose
They have a number of RABBITS, GUINEA PIGS and POULTRY.
They also have a flock of HEBRIDEAN SHEEP, which bring a flavour of the wild Scottish moors.
You may be lucky enough to spot a PEACOCK up a tree or proudly strutting around the Stables Courtyard.
Out in the Park is their pair of HIGHLAND CATTLE, with their long horns, which can only be viewed from a distance. You will spot them with their eye-catching, long rusty red coats in one of the fields.
Beekeeping
The Manchester Beekeepers open the Dower House to the public on Sunday afternoons from 2pm. There is a demonstration hive where you can safely see the bees at work, and displays about bees and beekeeping. You can also buy the famous Heaton Park Honey.
Rowing Boats
Lakeside Leisure, in partnership with Manchester City Council, operate rowing boats on the lake. The rowing boats are available for hire daily
