This training walk for the three peaks is a slightly taxing but entertaining walk over the Glyderau. The ridge of The Glyders is one of the most majestic and inspiring in Snowdonia. The route to these airy heights is equally stimulating, commencing on the shore of Llyn Ogwen. . A steep walk up the north east ridge of Y Garn sees the walk emerge into a rocky wilderness, a faint path taking off for Glyder Fawr and, a little further, Glyder Fach and the remarkable shattered pinnacles of Castell y Gwynt. Needless to say there are marvelous views all round, none more so than to neighbouring Tryfan, a huge, frost-shattered buttress of volcanic rocks towering above Ogwen. Adventurous paths tumble back to Ogwen Cottage.
This walk is quite strenuous and will take in the 4 main peaks of the Glyderau so you should have a good level of fitness. But if you can manage this challenge then the 3 Peaks challenge should be easy!
Please bring: good walking boots, comfortable trousers (no jeans), waterproof, fleece, hat, sunscreen lotion, packed lunch, water, tea/coffee.
