Saturday - challenging walk
Snowdon Horseshoe from Pen-y-Pass
Distance: 7.5 miles
Duration: 6.5 hours
Difficulty 5 (Grade 1 scrambling, open spaces)
This walk climbs Snowdon, the highest mountain of Wales (1,085m/3,560ft), via the classical and very picturesque route called the Snowdon Horseshoe. The route starts with an ascent via the Crib Goch ridge, known as one of the finest ridge walks in Britain and after climbing the summit descends via the Y Lliwedd ridge, also offering spectacular views. Please note that if you suffer from vertigo or fear of heights, this is not a walk for you. A cetain level of fitness is required.
Saturday - easier option 2
Moel Siabod from Plas-y-Brenin
Distance: 6.5 miles
Duration: 5.5 hours
Difficulty: 3 (easy scramble, may be boggy in some places)
A solitary mountain, Moel Siabod (872m/2,861ft) stands separately from all the other higher peaks of northern Snowdonia and because of that it is still slightly underestimated. However, it offers great views of the Snowdon Horseshoe and it is reputedly possible to see 13 out of 14 highest peaks of Wales from there on a clear day without turning one's head. Our walk will start at Plas-y-Brenin, just a few hundred yards from the accomodation, and take us through some beautiful woodland, an abandoned slate quarry and some exposed mountain areas.
Sunday - a short relaxing walk in the beautiful woodlands
Gwydir Forest and Swallow Falls from Llyn Sarnau
Distance: 6 miles
Duration: 3 hours
Diificulty: 2
A picturesque short walk through the forest near Betws-y-Coed, ending at the Swallow Falls, the highest continuous waterfall in Wales and one of Snowdonia's most visited sites.
Accommodation: Nestled amongst spectacular scenery, between a river and a network of mountain footpaths, the lodge is uniquely positioned for outdoor enthusiasts. It has a patio area with fantastic views overlooking a mountain river and waterfall, a large drying room and a welcoming living room with fantastic waterfall views and real fire, perfect for cosying up in after our walk! The Mountain Lodge is comfortable for group accommodation with ensuite shower and toilet in each bedroom.
Book a place and recharge your batteries during a relaxing and revitalising short break. Just 30 minutes a day of walking will improve your health and wellbeing. By becoming more active you will have a great sense of achievement, more energy, sleep better and reduce your stress levels.
Please note the planned walks are dependent on local conditions and the itinerary may change due to weather conditions on the weekend. Rest assured though that we will still find walks to suit the conditions and provide you with a fun packed social weekend.
