A circular walk, taking in the autumn heather of the moors on the Derbyshire/Cheshire border.
Waypoints: Fernilee Reservoir, Pym Chair 461m, Shining Tor 559m, Cat & Fiddle Inn (2nd Highest pub in England), River Goyt and Errwood Reservoir.
Starting at Fernilee Reservoir and walking through the forest and up to the top of Pym Chair at 461 metres.
Then along The Tors towards Shining Tor at 559 meters, this small rocky outcrop give amazing views over the moorland towards Shutlingsloe on the edge of the Macclesfield forest.
Then continuing along the ridge towards the Cat & Fiddle Inn for a well deserved pint. This is the half way point of the walk. The pub dates back to at least the early 19th century, the Cat and Fiddle Inn is the second highest inn in England, standing at 515 metres above sea level. Tel. 01298 78366

After a refreshing stop, we then proceed down to the River Goyt, following the river back to Errwood Reservoir and through the trees to the car park at Fernilee.
A varied walk, taking in both moorland and beautiful forest scenery across the reservoirs. Will be muddy in areas and cold be very windy on the ridge, so please bring suitable clothing, a warm drink food and some money for a pint. If food is required, The Shady Oak Pub is located Long Hill (A5004), a 5 mins drive from Fernilee car park on, for anyone who would like to stay for food afterwards.
Kit list: good walking boots (not trekking shoes, some parts may be boggy), gaiters (if possible), waterproofs, walking trousers (not jeans!), warm fleece and hat, tea/water, packed lunch.
