A Sunday stroll through White Peak Dales

Distance: 10.4 miles

Difficulty: 2

Duration: 5h which includes stops

We will start from the village of Hartington and explore the beautiful valleys typical for the White Peak area. Our walk will start in the Beresford Dale, and continue through to the Wolfscote Dale, both picturesque parts of the Dovedale valey. We will then reach a beautiful hamlet of Mill Dale with its famous packhorse bridge, walk through the village of Alstonefield (a bustling mediaevial market centre and a pretty Peak District village) and back via Biggin Dale to Hartlington. Charles Cotton Hotel in Hartington was a finalist in the 2011 Derbyshire Food and Drink awards, and we will finish there with a well deserved pint and a traditional Sunday roast.

Kit list: walking trousers (no jeans), walking boots, waterproofs, warm clothes, tea flask, snacks/sandwich.
