Lt. Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch) is in hot water with his gruff commanding officer, Admiral Shane (Liam Neeson). That's complicated by the fact that he's engaged to Shane's beautiful daughter, Sam (Brooklyn Decker). It makes for an inauspicious start to an international naval drill in the Pacific Ocean. But nobody could have predicted what would happen next. When a team is sent to investigate a vast and mysterious alien vessel in the middle of the ocean, it erects a giant forcefield and launches a devastating aerial bombardment.
