Scout Moor opened in 2009 is Englands largest on shore wind farm. There are 26 Nordex N80 turbines which in total generates 65 mw of electricity which provids enough power for 40,000 and covers 1,347 acres. It is said when walking around here you are on top of a entrie city, you will be able to see some breathtaking views of Manchester City Centre and as far away as the Cheshire plains on a clear day.
The walk starts at Ashworth Resovoir where will will ascend up Ashworth Moor leading up to Turf Moor we join up to the Rossendale Way, where we will walk along the wind turbains in there full glory. Then we walk to Foe Edge where there is a memorial for the famous poet Edwin Woe, after this join up the Pennine Bridleway and desened and will will be enjoying splendid views of Manchester and Rochdale. Heading towards Narden Reservoirs we then walk to Knowl Hill, and a other part of the Wind Farm and thats we will end back at Ashwoth Resovoir where we will head to Owd Betts pub built in 1796 which is famously haunted by the former landlady Betty, for a well deserved drink and Sunday lunch.
