Overview: A fun and social weekend with two guided walks round some of the Peak District’s most stunning scenery! An 8 mile walk over Chrome Hill on the Saturday and a lower level walk on the Sunday. Package includes: Two guided walks, an 8 mile walk on Saturday and a gentler 4 mile walk on Sunday, two nights accommodation full cooked breakfast Sat and Sun mornings, home cooked evening meals Fri and Sat, packed lunch for Sat and Sun and a great time at no extra charge )) Itinerary: Fri Night: Arrive at Moorside Farm for a delicious home cooked meal. Then off to the local pub for a few drinks and a chance to get to know each other better. Sat: Three Course Breakfast No need for cars as we are setting off from the farm, walking up Chrome Hill for approx 8 mile circular walk. Chrome Hill is a popular walker’s hill, with fantastic views on a clear day. Chrome Hill is a large steep-sided lump of limestone with a serrated ridge. The onward route is interesting as you descend the western ridge with the path twisting and turning between limestone outcrops, in between your chit you will be viewing some fantastic scenery. We will stop for a packed lunch and at the other side of the hill there is a pub we can call into for a well earned pint! We will then continue on our walk back to the farm where, after a shower and warming ourselves up, we will enjoy a substantial evening meal, served in the dining room which looks out over the surrounding countryside. After a busy day out in the fresh air, there is nothing like a good home cooked meal in front of a roaring open fire! Sat evening – a chance to chill out with a glass of wine or two in front of the fire! Sun: A lazy and relaxed start with full cooked breakfast before heading to the Roaches for approx a 4 mile walk. For many travellers on the A53 driving north from Leek to Buxton, the distinct and rocky escarpment known as the Roaches comes as a surprise. Offering some of the best walking territory in Staffordshire, the moorlands in the northern part of this county fall within the boundaries of the Peak District National Park. The Roaches is a gentle ridge walk along with excellent views and with good visibility we may be able to spot Jodrell Bank dish over towards Macclesfield and hills further a field which lead to the Welsh borders. More locally are superb views of Tittesworth Reservoir and Leek. As we walk we will see the eccentric shapes of some of the boulders on the Roaches one even that resembles a snail! Moorside Farm private Bunkhouse is in a fantastic location, ideally suited for walkers. The farmhouse has full central heating with a traditional coal fire. The package includes: Friday Arrival dinner: 8.00 pm Saturday: full English Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, guided walk, substantial 2 course Dinner. Sunday: full English Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, guided walk. At Moorside Farm all the meals are prepared on the premises and will be made from fresh and local produce. At less than an hours drive away the Peak District is the perfect playground for walkers and nature lovers, extending over 542 square miles, it is home to some of the most beautiful and spectacular scenery in the UK and naturally divides into two uniquely different areas, with wild gritstone moors to the north and gentler limestone dales to the south, making it ideal walking country. Come and explore some of England’s most spectacular scenery and visit some of the sleepy villages and hamlets - amongst the prettiest in the country - that have retained much of their early romantic charm, the magic of the Peak District is just waiting to be discovered. Moorside Farm is a 300 year old farmhouse set 1200 feet up in the beautiful Peak District National Park on the Derbyshire-Staffordshire border, approximately 5 miles from the historic spa town of Buxton. Moorside, Hollinsclough, is an ideal retreat for people who want to get away from the stress of every day life and take in some of the most beautiful scenery in the British Isles. Weekends away are great social occasions and a great way to meet new people so don't worry if you are coming on your own. We will be car sharing up and down so dont worry if you dont drive. A Really enjoyable weekend - great to do an activity, much more natural and not alcohol dependent. Felt well taken care of - thanks!' Susan, Sale
