Couldn't be simpler really. We'll go for a walk, eat homemade cake, walk some more then go to the pub. But not just any pub - the Royal Oak at Hurdlow has been consistently the best food we've had after our walks in the last couple of years. Ask around - if anyone has had their Beef & Stilton Pie and not been astonished. Can't guarantee it'll still be on the menu though.
The walk? We shall be walking through the limestone countryside of the Derbyshire Dales National Nature Reserve, through the villages of Over Haddon, Youlgreave and Alport, along the picturesque Lathkill Dale and a section of the Limestone Way.
This is the gentler, rolling part of the Peak District so there aren't any big hills to climb. Total distance is about 8 miles.
The usual advice applies, as usual. Boots rather than trainers, but please bring some to change into for the pub/journey home. Jeans are really not a good idea - with the colder weather, if it rains you'll be very uncomfortable.
