The largest fresh water Loch in the country, Loch Lomond is one of the best known bodies of water in the world - largely due to the well known song, 'The Bonnie, Bonnie, Banks o' Loch Lomond' - a song of ill fated love from the days of 'Bonnie Prince Charlie'.
Balmaha on Loch Lomond East shore but this is not the only thing which brings visitors to the area - now part of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park National Park.
Accommodation:
Originally a 19th century church, now converted into fabulous quality budget accommodation with a licensed restaurant. Our accommodation is located on the east shore of Loch Lomond, bunkhouse accommodation only 800m from the West Highland Way, in the heart of Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park.

Itinerary:
Friday – Morning / mid afternoon
Our drive to Loch Lomond will take approximately 4.5 hours and will see us stopping for lunch along the way.

National Wallace Monument in Sterling:
The monument stands tall and proud outside the city of Stirling and overlooking the scene of Scotland’s victory at The Battle of Stirling Bridge.
This is a place where history is something you can touch and feel, as you follow the story of Sir William Wallace, patriot, martyr, and Guardian of Scotland.
Late afternoon / Early Evening
We will arrive at our accommodation where we will be unpacking and settling in then grabbing an evening meal at the restaurant on-site along with a few drinks and the perfect opportunity to meet every one!
Saturday
After a hearty breakfast we will be walking up the popular Ben Lomond 974m (3,196 metres).
We will be taking our packed lunches with us and stopping half way through the climb to take a well earned break.
Ben Lomond is easily accessible from our accommodation and offers magnificent views from its summit, its Scotland’s southernmost ‘Munro’ (mountain over 3,000ft) and is probably one of the most climbed hills in Scotland !!
Late afternoon / Early Evening
Returning back to our accommodation early evening to wash and change before heading out to the closest village for an evening meal and a few drinks and a laugh in the local pub!

Following breakfast and a lazy morning reading the papers and relaxing we will be taking a boat trip on Experience a majestic two-hour cruise in the heart of Rob Roy MacGregor country.
Late morning / early afternoon
Loch Lomond Cruise (2 hours) - We will be taking in all the sights and natural beauty of the northern end of Loch Lomond whilst hearing about the history of the feuding clans and Scotland’s most celebrated outlaw, the notorious Rob Roy (or Red) MacGregor. Departing Inversnaid you will capture stunning views of the dramatic Arklet Waterfalls from the Loch.

I enjoy organised walks as part of group but either my mates are just not into it or the ones that are can’t commit to any dates, so having Social Circle organise it all means I can just do it and have some fun in the process meeting some new people. Louise Timperly
