Join Wandering Duck on an Adventurous canal boating weekend as we travel from Whaley Bridge on the edge of the Peak District, to and through the centre of Manchester!
Have a go at steering and working the locks, enjoy home-cooked food, pub stops, and optional activities. This is perfect for those new to canal boating as it’s a fully hosted experience.
Highlights include:
Travel high over the River Goyt across Marple Aqueduct
Enjoy spectacular views of the Peak Forest Canal
Cruise through the centre of Manchester, passing through the Gay Village and past Deansgate Locks.
Moor up in the Northern Quarter for a night at Matt & Phreds
Have a go at steering and working the locks
Optional activities including walks and canoeing*

Includes:
Accommodation on the Narrowboat (2x 4-berth mixed-sex bunk cabins)
Meals: Day 1 – Lunch, Dinner: Day 2 – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner: Day 3 – Breakfast, Lunch: Day 4 – Breakfast
Breakfast of cereals, toast & condiments, fresh fruit, fruit juices

Getting there and away:
Start Point: Whaley Bridge Canal Basin, Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire. SK23 7LS @ 12pm
Wandering Duck will be moored in Whaley Bridge Canal Basin, a 5 minute walk from Whaley Bridge Train Station.
Finish Point: Castlefield Basin, Manchester. M1 2HG
We will finish up in Castlefield Basin. Deansgate Train Station is a 5 minute walk.
We recommend using trains to get to and from the weekend, but if you need to drive we suggest parking at the Whaley Bridge Canal Basin Car Park on the Friday (Don’t worry about the “British Waterways Customer Parking Only” sign – this has been pre-arranged with them).
You can then take the train from Manchester back to Whaley Bridge on Monday to collect your car.
