The days are short so if we want a walk and a lazy start we need to find somewhere nearby. So for our last walk this year, let's go back to Mellor and the Oddfellows pub (http://www.oddfellowsmellor.com/) which we enjoyed so much at the beginning of the year. We'll walk about 8 miles, through the fields, lanes and farms around Mellor itself, skirting close to New Mills. There are no big hills to climb, but it's by no means flat around there. Expect the usual good company, cake and conversation in the fresh air. You'll need proper walking boots for the mud - i.e., no trainers, but bring some to change into for the pub and the journey home. And jeans really are not a good idea if it's cold and wet.
